democracy is only the will of the many.  that is the whole point in voting, to see who has more votes.

democracy makes the assumption if most people feel one way it must be correct.

fuck the (political not racial) minorities, if they were right they should have convinced the majority.

It's not the political minority's fault that they can't convince the majority, it's because they don't have much of a say in the first place. Our representatives like to make every issue have only 2 sides, a positive view and an opposing view, when in reality there are multiple sides to every issue because every individual's needs are different. The majority of the people fall into one of the 2 main categories, leaving the political minorities to fend for themselves since no one is looking out for their needs.

If, for some odd reason, I ever seem to piss you off, just remember these 3 things:

1) I didn't do it. 2) If I did it then I didn't mean to. And 3) If I did mean it then you probably deserved it! -DrewB

You're both right, which in turn leads me to the 5% rule of the German government again, where political parties with not enough supporters are not allowed to be in the Bundestag.

Atrox should clarify, there are only two major parties in america, but a party is nothing but a set of political ideals.

every single elected position has the opportunity to become any party.

these other parties (soicalist, nationalist, green, t.e.a. ...) represent in total together less than 5% of the total votes in federal elections.

in all elections however in order to win the candidate (is that the right word?  it looks ...off.)  needs a majority of the total, 50% plus one vote, not the largest percentage of votes.

(example tri-party election:  A-40% B-35% & C-25%.   A does not necessarily win.)

in some of the more progressive states, candidates (still don't look right.) have ran and won under the title 'independent', as to say they have no party.

on every ballot Atrox has used there is a blank space for "write in"s, anybody can vote for whomever.  even if they have not declared candidacy. (looks even worse.)

in theory somebody could be elected whose name is not on the ballot.

Well, in Germany, nobody really wins, the "winner" is determined by the highest number of votes for his or her party. For some specified number of votes they get one seat in the Bundestag and they fill it by using a list of people specified before the votes even start, although it is possible to have a direct vote for a person, which is actually just one seat for every voting district "battled" out between the top candidates of the local branches of the major parties.

And it is actually not possible to vote for someone who hasn't given his agreement so that he can be elected. (Though I am not sure)

that is not what Atrox typed, the name may not be on the ballot but someone could still be running.  that is the whole point of the 'write in' area of the ballot.  with that said, you could vote for anybody, anywhere, alive or dead, real or imaginative, because that is the nature of a blank space you can put anything you wish there.

Yeah the "write in" area is more likely for the off chance there's a candidate that came late in the running and therefore his name didn't make onto the ballot in time. So you would still be able to put their name to be able to vote for them. But what @atrox is saying is that technically, since it is only a "blank space", you could write in somebody that isn't even in the running and it would still go through as a properly casted ballot for that person.

Socialistic minarchy, perhaps?

Socialism is a very good system - when it works. I'm not talking about full-on communism where the state decides everything, but simply high taxes, and those taxes being used for public welfare systems like medicine, infrastructure, and other such stuff.

A minarchy is where the government does as little as possible. This may seem to contradict the socialism bit, but the two are on different scales. In a minarchy, the community is mostly self-governed.

So combining the two, this is a sort of government that takes a chunk of your income and uses it to provide free health care and such, but that's all it does. Of course, the best kind of system might be a total state of anarchy. Where no government is needed, because everyone shares everything they have, and nobody wants to steal or kill or whatever the fuck might be relevant.

That sounds like communism.

they're related in their core ideals, thus leading to them being similar.

Well I think we should build a new empires on the bones of the old ones. Get whatever cause is popular and make them into organized fighters. then raze each others cities too the ground. Next it won't matter who is in charge just so long as people get what they need back. A self fulfilling cycle of murder and corruption. I'm just speaking hypothetically of course.
